Eleanor Wakelam Photography
Welcome to my portfolio of images. Here you will find the best of my works.
I am Eleanor, I developed a keen interest in photography when I was given my first camera, and began taking photographs of the people around me, and loved it.
Then, keen to broaden my experience I joined Kommune Photography School where I mingled with photographers with varying experiences. Here I had hands on experience with setting up equipment and capturing the image and general organisation of shoots in team work situations. Collaborating with other photographers opened up my eyes to new ideas and allowed me to begin to create my own style.
Hungry for more knowledge I participated in the Eucalypse workshop that ran for 4 days in Melbourne in 2010. I was paired with a mentor for the duration of the weekend where we were challenged to direct and work with models and Make Up Artists in many different locations across Melbourne's CBD.
As a personal project I published a book called "the end of the road" which was a compilation of images that recorded - in story format - the destruction of the farmland around my home for development.
After taking over 10,000 images, I thought it was about time I created an online folio. Featured throughout the site is the best of my images.
The more I worked with models I began to wonder what it was like to be in front of the camera. I did a little modelling work and learnt what it was like to be the one photographed, and took immediate steps to adopt an open communication approach to shooting.
I am competent with the digital camera, and enjoy meeting new people and coming up with creative ideas to portray the desired images that fit the brief. I have photographed men, women, children, animals and landscapes. I am punctual and enjoy a challenge. I am also a very polite and courteous person who is always keen to expand my knowledge and experiences.
